COVID-19 Update 3/14/2020

An Important Note to Friends of Key

Dear Friends of the Key Training Center,

The health and safety of the individuals we serve in addition to our staff and volunteers are always our top priority. We continue to monitor the quickly evolving news related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are making the necessary adjustments to our work and operations.

We are closely following the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines and recommendations on the steps we can take to help prevent the spread of the virus. The Key Center’s facilities, restrooms, and all common areas are cleaned and sanitized daily. In addition, frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, tables, chairs, and other commonly used items are cleaned multiple times per day.

All individuals at the Key Center are encouraged to wash their hands with antibacterial soap multiple times per day, and we have displayed signs illustrating proper disease prevention practices. All visitors, staff, and clients are being screened before entering day and residential programs.

We encourage everyone who visits our campus to allow as much personal space to others as possible. We have shared specific instructions with our employees on the importance of washing their hands and staying home if they feel sick. If anyone has traveled anywhere outside of United States or on any cruise they must self-isolate for 14 days upon return.

Effective March 16, 2020, all volunteer programming has been postponed until further notice, in addition to all outings and large group activities. The Key Center’s fundraising events will be monitored on a case-by-case basis as will individual volunteers who assist in Key Center’s Programs.

Our Adult Day Program remains open. There have been no closure orders from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities to close Adult Day Programs, even in the light of the recent 2-week public school closing. We are monitoring our trusted source Florida ARF regarding any business decisions related to the effects of the Coronavirus.
