Residential Visitation Policy
Visitors for all residents are welcome at all times and can stay for any length of time. The Key Training Center strives to protect the health and welfare of the residents and staff, and their families and friends while visiting. Additional precautions may be put in place if residents are at risk of being exposed to or transmitting a communicable disease (i.e., Covid -19, TB, Pneumonia, etc.)

  • Staff will educate residents and their visitor(s) on appropriate infection control practices and about the risks of an in-person visit based on the current CDC guidelines.
  • Visitors who have a positive viral test for Covid-19, symptoms of Covid-19, or currently meet the criteria for any quarantine, should not enter any residential sites. Sites should screen all who enter for these visitation exclusions.
  • Visitors will sign a visitor log and sanitize their hands. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available at all residential sites for residents, staff, and all visitors. Residents, staff, and all visitors will adhere to all CDC infection control protocols.
  • If there is an illness at the home, visitors are encouraged to wear masks in common areas of the home if social distancing cannot happen. Visitors are NOT required to provide proof of vaccination or immunization.
  • Large groups or parties must maintain social distancing. There are no limitations on the number of visitors.
  • CDC guidelines will be followed based on local community rates of
    infection.
  • Covid (or other diseases) outbreak in a home will warrant a pause of
    visitation in home's common areas.
  • Key Training Staff will clean and disinfect the areas visited between
    visitations.
  • Visitors under the age of 18 will require the company of an adult.
  • The Direct Support Professional Manager (DSPM) is responsible for the adherence to the visitation policy at their residential sites, and the Residential Director is responsible overall.

The Key Training Center must allow for in-person visitation in all the following circumstances, unless the resident objects:

  • End-of-life situations.
  • A resident, client, or patient who was living with family before being admitted to the provider’s care is struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family support.
  • The resident, client, or patient is making one or more major medical decisions.
  • A resident, client, or patient is experiencing emotional distress or grieving the loss of a friend or family member who recently died.
  • A resident, client, or patient needs cueing or encouragement to eat or drink which was previously provided by a family member or caregiver.
  • A resident, client, or patient who used to talk and interact with others is seldom speaking.
