Caring K9s Brings Friendship and Comfort to the Key
Five special visitors brought a little extra joy to the Key Training Center and Key Elder Care.

Sharing Comfort and Companionship
Five special visitors brought a little extra joy to the Key Training Center and Key Elder Care on October 22, 2026. Fenway, Ilsa, Bunker, Willow and Lincoln stopped by with Caring K9s to spend time with their friends, sharing the comfort and companionship that make these visits so meaningful.
Caring K9s visits the Key at least a couple of times each month to hang out with our clients. These regular visits give everyone something to look forward to and help build familiar friendships between our clients, the dogs and their volunteer handlers.
For the individuals we serve, time with a therapy dog offers an opportunity to connect, relax and enjoy a friendly presence. These visits are a welcome reminder that meaningful connections come in many forms—sometimes with four paws and a wagging tail.
Dedicated to Comfort and Emotional Support
Caring K9s is a Florida-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization co-founded and directed by DJ Gwilt. Serving primarily Citrus and Hernando counties, its certified therapy dog teams visit hospitals, nursing homes, schools and community centers to provide comfort and emotional support.
Behind each visit is a commitment to preparation. Dogs and their volunteer handlers complete a months-long preparation and evaluation process to ensure the dogs meet the behavioral standards needed for therapy visits.
Thank You, Caring K9s!
At the Key, we value the community partners who help enrich the lives of the people we serve. We are grateful to Caring K9s, its dedicated volunteers and Fenway, Ilsa, Bunker, Willow and Lincoln for being familiar friends to our Key family and making each visit a little brighter.
