As we celebrate 60 years of the Key Training Center, our hearts overflow with gratitude and love. Looking back, we are deeply moved by the countless souls who have touched our journey, each one leaving an indelible mark on the fabric of who we are.

For six decades, our story has been woven together by acts of kindness, compassion and unwavering support from individuals who believe, with all their hearts, that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve every opportunity that life can offer.

This year, our anniversary theme, “I Am the Key,” speaks to the heart of who we are. It is not just a campaign—it is a celebration of the people who have opened doors, created miracles and changed lives with their caring hearts.

Inclusion Begins with Love and Understanding

Citrus County is more than a picturesque, vibrant community—it is a family that loves unconditionally. The outpouring of devotion and generosity shown through donated dollars, volunteer hours, donated items and other gifts has helped make our dream come true.

Because of you, people with I/DD are seen, valued and given the chance to live full, meaningful lives.

In return, people with I/DD have given us something far greater—a community steeped in humanism. Their resilience, innocence and joy remind us of what truly matters: love and compassion for our fellow man.

They show us that our differences are not barriers, but beautiful reminders of our shared humanity. When even one person is denied the chance to thrive, we all lose something. When we hold dear the most vulnerable among us, we all become stronger.

Over the decades, the Key Center has had the privilege of walking beside thousands of cherished individuals as they discovered their abilities, built confidence, found purpose and achieved their God-given potential.

“I Am the Key” honors every person who made that possible—the founders who started with one home and a vision, the dedicated staff who show up every day with love and commitment, the families who trust us, a community that believes in our mission, and the precious people we serve who inspire us beyond words.
