Kieth Francoeur – The Power of Possibility

Dear friends,

Meet Kieth Francoeur, a 34-year-old man who lives with an intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD). For most of his life, he was surrounded by the love and protection of his parents. However, as he transitioned into adulthood, he faced one of the most significant decisions of his life: leaving home to move into residential services at the Key Training Center.

Before coming to the Key Center, Kieth was quiet and withdrawn. He rarely spoke to anyone outside his immediate family and often preferred to keep to himself. Social situations caused him anxiety, and his parents were concerned about how he would manage on his own in the world. The idea of him moving away filled them with both hope and fear.

What happened when he made the move to the Key Center took even his parents by surprise. He began to flourish in ways they had only dreamed of. He discovered a sense of independence, found his voice, and realized he could achieve more than he had ever imagined. His smile grew wider, his laughter became louder, and his confidence strengthened.

Today, Kieth attends the Key Center Adult Day Training Program five days a week. There, he builds essential skills, enjoys social activities, and engages in meaningful work that gives him pride and purpose. This daily routine has been vital in helping Kieth grow and stay connected to a supportive community. “When I came to visit him, I asked the instructor, ‘Who is this kid? That’s not the same kid I dropped off,” said Laura, Kieth’s mother. “Watching his transformation has been truly incredible.”

Kieth isn’t just cared for at the Key Center, he’s celebrated. He is surrounded by friends who understand and uplift him. He thrives in a community that recognizes his potential and believes in him every single day.

But Kieth’s story is not typical. Over 22,000 individuals in Florida with I/DD are still waiting for help, waiting for the chance to grow, to belong, to be seen. Many may wait for years or even decades, and some may never receive that chance without support from individuals like you. Your gift can change that.

Every day, someone with I/DD is told to “wait”. When you give to the Key Training Center, you’re not just making a donation; you’re providing someone with the freedom to dream, the confidence to try, and the joy of living a life filled with possibilities. Donate today and help transform that “wait” into a “Welcome Home.”
