A Tradition 50 Years Strong: Crossing the Suwannee River
One of the most special moments of the Run for the Money continues at the historic Joe H. Anderson Sr. Bridge.
Crossing the Suwannee
One of the most special moments of the Run for the Money is the annual crossing of the Suwannee River. This year, Key Training Center clients, staff, supporters, and runners gathered at the historic Joe H. Anderson Sr. Bridge to continue a tradition that has been part of the Run for 50 years.
First-time runners Kim Swinehart and Dawn Crawley joined longtime runner Rebecca Schmalstig for the crossing, while our clients and staff proudly carried handmade signs thanking the community for supporting the Key.
What began in 1976 when our former Executive Director, the late Chet Cole, ran 180 miles from Tallahassee to Lecanto has grown into a beloved community tradition. Over the past 50 years, the Run for the Money has logged more than 19,000 miles and raised more than $6 million to support the individuals we serve.
