A Gift with a Special Connection
Sometimes a gift means even more because of the personal story behind it.
We are incredibly grateful to the Knights of Columbus Florida State Council for a generous $5,000 donation to Run for the Money. Helping make this gift possible was William C. Kelly, Regional Administrator 2 from Jacksonville, whose connection to the Key Training Center is close to his heart.
Three members of William’s family are part of the Key family. Brothers Matthew Payne, 50, and Michael Payne, 47, have been with the Key since 1997 and 2001, respectively. Their cousin, Luke Ritchie, 35, joined us in 2009. For William, advocating for the Key means supporting a place where people he loves have opportunities to live, learn, grow and enjoy life to the fullest.
The Knights of Columbus’ commitment to charity and supporting people with special needs closely reflects the spirit of our mission. Their generosity helps us provide year-round day, residential and supported employment services to more than 300 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including more than 30 individuals who receive no state funding.
We are thankful to William and the Knights of Columbus for believing in our mission and, most importantly, believing in the people we serve. Gifts like this remind us just how much can happen when a community chooses to care.
